Apocalyptic Street Scene Complete!

So I've had this sitting around for a while and finally finished it off before Christmas. It's not the greatest diorama but it's alright for a first attempt and I think my zombie mouslings are happy with it!

Here's a couple of pics:

Some stuff I've done in 2011...

So I'm going to keep this pretty short and basically get to the pics. Here is a fair bit of the stuff I've been working on last year. I wish it was more but unfortunately I was pretty flat-out in 2011. I'm making more of an effort this year - Cancon here I come!

New arrivals from Guild of Harmony!

Hey there,

Ok, so I know it has been ageeesss since I last posted but that pesky thing called life has been getting in the way.

This week I received my Guild of Harmony order. My painter buddies have been buzzing about the new Steampunk Tinker Belle. I didn't need much convincing to place an order! She is cast in resin and is super detailed.
I also ordered a few other things.

Sleeping Beauty... progress

Ok, so it's been a while since I last made a post. I have been a bit under the weather lately... but there's really no excuse for not posting about minis!
Earlier this year I got my hands on Sleeping Beauty by Reaper. It's a really lovely mini and very solid too (so no throwing when angry). However it doesn't come with a base but that leaves more room for creativity!
Anyways, I just thought I'd share my progress with you. I've decided that the sheet covering her is to be sheer and white in colour. This may seem a bit boring but I'm thinking I'll paint the roses a bright crimson to really make the mini 'pop'. I still have a lot to do: face, hair, stone bed, vines and roses... and a base. You can see my progress in the pics below.

Celebrating the arrival of new minis...!

Squeeeeee! New minis have arrived! I just received a box full of minis from Wyrd. I ordered a whole bunch of their special editions that were only available on the Gen Con weekend. I also ordered the Collodi box set. I got a free mini (Miss Demeanor) with the order for spending too much... tee hee. Can't wait to start painting them (not looking forward to assemblage though).

A week or so ago I also received a rather large order from Cool Mini or Not. So many minis, so little time. I'm really not sure where to start.

Here's some of the stuff I ordered (excuse the pic quality):

Seamus - The Mad Hatter by Wryd miniatures

Towards the end of last I was introduced to Wryd minis. I had never heard of them before (yes, I was a complete noob) and once I saw their range I was instantly hooked.
For those unfamiliar with Wryd, they basically produce gothic, macarbre style minis which can also be used in a table-top game they produce called Malifaux. Their minis are a little disturbing but they also have a sense of humour. Just my thing!
Anyways I found Seamus at my local games store and just thought he was really cool. He is just so evil and sneaky looking.
The examples I saw of him painted had him quite dark. A member of the painting group I meet with suggested going crazy bright - he was to become Seamus The Mad Hatter Pimp!

Check him out below:

I'm quite happy with how he turned out... not too bad for a beginner. I had a bit of help from a friend with the pinning and sculpting of the tiles onto the base. I really love how the pink/purple with the leopard print turned out. I think his hat is my favourite bit.
My only major problem was the damn bag which repeatedly fell off, even after pinning. So now that he's complete he stays safely in a display cabinet and doesn't get touched!
I would definitely paint more Wryd minis, in fact I have some on their way from the USA. I can't wait!

Mousling Zombies and Chainsaw Hero

Way back towards the end of last year I got my hands on a set of the limited edition Mousling Zombies and Chainsaw Hero by Reaper. The mouslings are one of Reaper’s special edition figures that get released for holidays and special events. They produce mouslings for Easter, Christmas, Halloween and a whole lot of other events too. These mouslings were made especially for the Reaper Artist Con 2010.
The set contains three mice that are metal and stand at about 20mm tall which makes them pretty tiny!

Two of the figures are zombies and the other is wielding a chainsaw and a wicked grin… something tells me this guy likes making mince meat of zombies. Anyway, these guys are awesome!

I’ve pretty much finished painting them with the exception of a few minor touch-ups. I decided to keep the chainsaw hero’s shirt fairly classic but I kind of went all out with the zombies. The female zombie’s dress turned out a little brighter than expected but I figured not all zombies dress dull. And I had a great suggestion from a fellow gamer that I just had to try… Hawaiian shirt! I think this was a pleasant and unexpected option for a zombie’s wardrobe. I think it promotes an interesting back-story for the two zombies. Cocktails and brains anyone?

Here's how they turned out:

"Now what would I use these for?" I hear you say. Well admittedly they aren’t super versatile so they could just be for display… or you could use them for a rat swarm in Gamma World!

I’ve decided to do both. With help (lots of help) from a friend I am making a little apocalyptic street scene diorama for my mouslings to sit in, purely for display but I’ve decided not to stick them in, that way I can use them for gaming.

Unfortunately these miniatures are almost impossible to find as they were strictly limited. So you’ll have to do a bit of digging if you want to find any. But don’t worry, Reaper are always producing more great limited edition figures like the limited Lara Kraft Adventuress mousling that was recently released!
